In Cuba, Andy’s attention was captured by the marine world when he was two years old: a lifetime’s fascination led to an award-winning film career, including 19 years working for the BBC Natural History Unit (NHU). Internationally his films have won numerous awards: EMMY, BAFTA, Wildscreen, Jackson Hole, Best of Festival at the Shanghai Television Festival; and nomination for the Grierson Award. He was a key player in the BBC’s landmarks, “The Blue Planet”; “Planet Earth”; and co-director of the feature film Deep Blue. Recently he has concentrated on 3D production and was auteur-director of the three part series “Hurricane” for Arte in France. He co-directed the 3D feature film and 3D IMAX “Ouragan”, produced by Ouragan Films for Studio Orange. Through his company Black Sea Films, he is now concentrating on a major maritime archaeological project, revealing the discovery of 41 unique deep water wrecks in the Black Sea. He is also developing an ambitious 360 VR production of the project.
